Coming home lights

Featured Replies

I'd absolutely love to be able to unlock my car and the headlights come on, along with the interior lighting and stuff

Has anyone got any idea of how this could be done?

All my lights are LED so the reverse light, numberplate bulbs, fogs, xenon's etc all coming on would be epic :p

Well you could use an alarm system. Some, such as the Viper 1002 or 5002 have outputs that can control other things and be automatically activated by locking or unlocking the car. This would involve wiring up a relay to switch the lights on, controlled by the alarm.

I had a relay setup that triggered the lights when the interior lights came on, such as when unlocking. Only issue was it would do it when people get in/out, but as I drive with the lights on all the time I didn't see that as an issue.

I can't remember where I found the guide, but a search will bring up several people asking this question already, and I think the thread was something along the lines of coming home lights guide or something.

You could just power them via a relay connected to the interior light and an array of diodes, only problem with that is that they will stay on as long as the interior light is on unless you used some form of timer circuit.

There was a remote lamp kit a few years ago. Just press a button on the supplied key fob and the under car neons or extra lights would come on. Sure it was stocked in halfords. Haven't seen them anywhere in a while but would of been easy to add it to the headlights and do the job

This was the sort of thing I was thinking of sorry on phone so no link just an eBay number 250922316736

I have thought of this idea but couldn't find a solution I have HID's so when I unlock the car they would flash and would look class :)

I thought the best way to have the idea working was to have it wired up to the light switch and I would have it so that you just leave the lights switched on all the time and then when you lock it they turn off and when you unlock it they turn on and that way you could still use the sidelights and you could turn the lights of which would turn the whole system of too. Thats just what I thought the best idea was, but I have no idea how to do it haha.

Please let me know if you find a solution, wold live to actually do this to mine :) Jay

On the pc now here's the link to what i was thinking about My link
