fabia turbo

Featured Replies

Hi,

Just bought a fabia 1.4 tdi 57 reg. I think it may be a dog. I've done some investigation and rang the last garage who seviced it. They said there had been a problem with the turbo and the power would drop on the motorway from 70 - 40mph. I'm at work today and over the weekend so can't test it yet.Can anybody advise. It also seems very noisy on initial start but this gets better as you drive it.

I'm thinking of taking it back and changing it.

Hi,

Do not want to seem to be the bearer of bad news but there is a possiblity that it's the turbo. If the previous garage have said that once you get to 70ish it then drops to the 30-40 mph area it is quite likely to be turbo or turbo related. I would also listen out for an extra bit of 'whistle' from the turbo.

Definately get it on the motorway, but be warned that I wouldn't personally be driving it at rush hour, if it does drop dramatically it's an accident waiting to happen.

Good luck and hopefully its not the turbo.

Thanks Lee,

the car has a 3 month warranty so if it does need a new turbo I don't know whether to stick with it and get them to sort it or ditch it?

I'm guessing you didn't buy the Fabia from a Skoda dealership?!

As soon as you get a chance to give it some motorway driving see what happens, if the problem does happen (could be intermitant) take it straight back or go to your nearest VAG dealership and see what they think.

Good luck

Lee
