Windscreen wipers

Featured Replies

Hi Folks

I've got a real problem my window wipers are dragging across the windscreen causing a sort of screech . Thought it was the wipers but no as I replaced them with champion blades they are now doing the same .

I think it maybe the car shampoo I'm using which is mega and dodo juice.

Anyone had the prob and how did it get sorted

Does it happen when the screen is soaked, or after it has wiped off all the water?

A possibility is that you've got the wrong size wipers I had it on a previous car I owned drove me mad for a few weeks. So double check blade size

To answer both questions wipers are correct size and dragging noise not as loud when window soaked. Was thinking about using rainx

Get yourself some decent sealant for the windscreen and you won't need to use the wipers........

+1 but make sure that thereafter you use your shampoo to the correct dilution ratio or you'll reduce it's effectiveness and possibly even strip it off just like you'd strip any sealant / glaze / wax off the bodywork.

The Carlack pairing are very good :)

I use rainx with on problems.

Try cleaning your wiper blades with a cloth soaked in neat windscreen wash solution. Then wipe them off using clean water.

Have you ever clayed your windscreen? If not and its a few years old it may have all sorts of deposits like tar/fall-out/sap etc that are causing you blades to catch on the screen and squeek.

Btw Happy Xmas to all on this forum

try some decent wipers i use valeo or bosch on mine with no problems, champion, rainx, rainydays etc cheep workshop blades that prob work for a week, failing that upgrade to flat blades xx

Since fitting Bosch Aero Wipers there's no noise on mine at all, however on my previous car the same thing did happen. Think it was because they were cheapo replacements, have you cleaned the actual blades?
