Fabia 1.4MPI timing chain replacement

Featured Replies

Hello all,

My 2002 Fabia 1.4mpi sounds awful and the idle isnt great - the timing chain rattle has struck (60k miles) and its time to bite the bullet and get it replaced.

I dont have the time nor inclination to do the job myself so will be booking it in to the local mechanic who quotes 3hrs work at a guess, which soudns about right.

I was going to get the part from here:

http://www.jorily.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=131_7_18&products_id=240

Having searched on this forum, there were lots of references to the timing sprocket having the timing mark in the wrong place. I mentioned this to the jorily chap and asked whether he knew if it were still a problem. He claimed that noone had called him back after a sale recently so he was thinking that the suppliers have probably rectified the problem.

However, its just as likely that noone has bothered to call him, even if there were a problem.

Has anyone done this job recently, with a part from jorily, and can tell me whether this is still an issue?

Cheers,

Tim

:) Worth noting that when I had the problem I'd bought the parts from a Skoda dealer, not Jorily.

Just a quick update - the kit I received from Jorily the other day appears to be correct - the timing mark matches that of the photo Daverapid previously posted.

It's booked in for tomorrow so time will tell!
