Little black fabia 1.6crtdi is due for first service 12months from new, it's only done 4,000 miles so question is what will they do ?? What due to be done ?, I want to replace air filter with a K&N one so don't want them to put the OEM one in also engine oil change I have castrol edge 5wx40 sitting in garage should I specify this or let them put the quantum stuff "which is best" please don't say "fight" , any input will be welcome

I bypassed my supplying Skoda dealership and had our first and second service done at my local VW agent because they only charged £70 against Skoda's

quote of £113 , and the the second service was £209 against Skoda's £248 .

5wx40 is the wrong oil, you need castrol edge 5wx30. Q1 or Q2 sevice in the hand book for the 1.6 have the same oil spec 507 00, just go some from dealers.

Just realised its not variable. Will still be dearer as requires 507.00 oil.

true that the vRS only needs 505, they used Syntuim 5000XS at my services , VW 505.01.. 5W30
