Is it possible to fit to a mk1 vrs and how easy to do

Yeah it is, you can get the kits off ebay and other places,

As of what sort of job it is i've not got round to it yet so carn't comment on it but it don't look like its just a 2 minute job as you have a wiring loom to connect up

Kits are available from Skoda, I supply and fit for £160 for example.

And you are located where?

Just outside Worcester.

I got mine from TPS about £55-£60 . Takes about 1-2 hours to fit and them someone with a VAG.com to set it up which takes about 30 seconds to do .

nick I bought it from skoda doncster!! lol

I was thinking of getting this too, does anyone know the part numbers of the bits needed? Think it's just the loom and the stalk? I could be wrong? Lol

Also this might be an odd question but can the cruse be activated via vagcom before the stalk and loom are fitted and the bits installed after and it just work or do the stalk and loom need to be there to be able to activate the feature?

Hi Have fitted cruise to my VRS so it is possible for the good DIYer to do. I took loads of pics and did start to do a write up, but not 100 completed it. The vagcom bit is easy and i would imagine could be activated prior to the parts being fitted, as you just turn that setting on, although i did mine after fitting.

Skoda do a kit, all the parts are in there.

All you need to be able to do is pin the wiring loom to the engine ecu plug so you need to know how to remove pins and how to read really small numbers..lol

Cruise can be activated first, it will just log fault codes as the ecu will be looking for a switch that isn't there.

That sound simple enough

I don’t suppose anyone knows the part number for the kit for the vRS as my local dealer are not great and will only look up parts for my car from my reg number (and even then its still 50/50 as to if I get the right part or not! lol) which is no help in this case!

Just a warning on cruise control... once you get used to it you'll never want a car without it!

It was a nice surprise when I bought my car as it wasn't advertised as having it. The seller said "oh yeah, I never specd it but it came on the car and they didn't charge me. I never use it." I used it on the way home from having picked it up and I think probably every journey since! So much so that I think the resume switch is wearing out!

I think we'd all appreciate whatever you've got, even if it's not complete! Better than nothing! B)

BEA300003 petrol £69

BEA300002 diesel £66

Get them to double check which ones which but I'm sure that's right as the petrol one includes an extra loom.

Does the kit come with the instructions for the wiring?

Yes it does.

So, if someone bought a stalk from a Golf or Octavia being broken, what else would be required? Is it practical to do it this way?

Switches are somewhat temperamental anyhow, buy cheap buy twice.

You also need two wiring looms.

  • 2 weeks later...

just picked up my cruise control kit from Skoda and it only seems to have one wiring loom, is this correct? See pic

This is the only loom it came with?

Sounds like I might have the wrong one then? Only the one loom but the instructions supplied only show one loom but do say they are for the 1.8l T and 2.0l???

Any ideas from anyone that has fitted this kit? Instructions do seem to be for the 1.8t AUQ?

I'll let u know how I get on next week lol ordered this yesterday

That is the right kit for the 1.8T yes, the two loom kit has now been changed to a single loom, sorry if I miss led you.
