New wheels

Featured Replies

After much deliberating and faffing around, I finally got these via the wonderful world of ebay. I seems that Christmas and a downturn in the economy meant that there were some bargains to be had. They aren't perfect and will need a refurb at some point, but I got four good tyres in the deal. They don't seem that heavy compared to the Spiders and accelleration/handling is pretty much as it was. I know they won't be to everyone's taste, but I'm very happy.

Please excuse the dirty car, it's been two weeks and about 800 miles since I had a chance to clean it.

Looks sweet, nice and easy to clean, look the same as mine Audi 18" RS6 Alloys?

Yep. In fact it was a photo of your car that made my mind up about which wheels I wanted. They are so easy to clean it's unbelievable! Thanks for the inspiration.

No Probs, pleased to be of service

I need to give my a bit of TLC over the next few months, looking a bit rough at the minute

Good choice!

Doesn't look too bad. Only comment I have is it now looks a bit like a monster truck. Needs lowering in my opinion.

Is that really an 06 plate? Guess it's one of the last ones? I thought they stopped at 55 plte?

Wheels look good too, and I don't know what you mean about dirty! It's spotless compared to mine lol

Wheels look good, needs lowering though, not a fan of the `up on stilts` look

I know what you mean. My plans for this year are a set of second hand coilovers and a cat back stainless. It'll do for now, and there's only so much I can do on a budget of bugger all.

It was one of the last and I've had it from new. Some insurers and comparison sites have trouble with their computers as they say it shouldn't exist. It's a keeper as far as I'm concerned, although it does work for a living. Three kids and the odd enthusiastic bout of driving ensure it's used as Skoda intended.

It is dirty though - I'm a bit OCD.

Tidy :)

Not -quite- sure on these. I like the 'easy to clean' benefit, though. :)

Me neither. If anyone has a suggestion of how to do this on a budget I'd be interested to hear. No comments on cutting the springs either. :p

I'm a bit of a novice on the old suspension issue as I've never seen a need to lower the car. Now I can appreciate that a few cm lower would make things a bit more in proportion, so will be welcoming advice on how to do this.

I got these as I reckon they are more in keeping than some more modern designs. The oldest Octavias go back to the 1990's now, so a super modern wheel looks out of place I think. It's a bit like an person in their eighites wearing a t-shirt with BENCH or SUPERDRY across it, nothing wrong with it as such, but there are things more suitable.

I like them Andrew, glad you're sorted.

Thanks Martin. The wife isn't too keen and thinks they look a bit chavvy. I agree and that's why I did it. I'm fed up of being sensible and fancied a bit of a change. As I said they aren't to everyone's taste, but if I fall out with them I can always put the Spiders back on.

Looks pretty much just like mine, BUT my grille surround is not chrome, now I'm debating weather to stay colour coded or go chrome????

I'll swap you for a spare chrome surround I bought to colour code mine - assuming yours is black?

Only just noticed this reply, sorry.

Yeah my grille is Magic Black?

But I will be honest it does have a couple chips in the paint, showing the chrome. Not damaged tho, just previous owner didn't prep, just painted!

As you can see from my profile pic I have removed said grille and stuck on a badgeless mesh beauty!

Looks neat mate, lowered will look neater but when wallets arnt on your side then its a step by step process ..... Damit :(

Will look completely different again when dropped :)

Keep a peeper for some coilies in the good ol' classified.......... I dunno either but dont dpm do some absolute bargin cheap coilovers ???? Theyd still have warrentys so if the worse should happen ( fingers crossed not ) you'll get sorted
