PD170 DPF Regeneration

Featured Replies

My injectors were replaced and I too have been told my oil level is higher than it should be; it wasn't before the injectors were replaced.

There was mention that one of the new injectors was leaking fuel; they've checked the injectors again and again and now claim nothing is wrong.

I won't mention the problematic cold starting, gritty oil, random stalling and worn turbo. All within weeks of the injector change. Coincidence? I very much doubt it.

I suffered DPF light twice since injectors changed, 2nd time I didn't even get chance to get to motorway for regen before coil light came on swiftly followed by EML and limp mode.

I took it to a local indy (DSB in Bulwell) we hooked up the Laptop, cleared the codes and went for a drive. He recommended 37mph and maintaining 2k to 2.5k rpm's.

My DPF first read at 236% full, when regen started this started to fall rapidly and within 5mins 60% was achieved which resulted in the coil light switching off. When 20% hit the DPF extinguished BUT the rates were still falling....we got it down to 3% in the end. Happy days, oil levels have nothing to do with it apparently, its diesel used in cleaning process. I have since added a DPF cleaner additive to my last tank of diesel and touch wood no DPF light since.

These cars are out since 2006 would u not think there would be more understanding about the dpf issue by now! Can the dpf not be just bypassed altogether?

Ps, I'm just home after picking up my 07 vrs diesel, love it and can't believe how quick it is,I drove a cr and wasn't at all impressed!

Well, paid the 120 for an oil and filter change today, had them run the code scanner on and no other faults found, So I guess It's a matter of time to see if the oil change will have an effect on the DPF issues I'm having. Spent some time tonight reading around the subject and found some sites definitely worth a read.

Further to my post (no.24) above, I have had my first dpf warning light appear last Friday morning. Thats the first in over 4 years and 23k miles. I have been doing a few more very short journeys of late so that probably explains it. I have had the injector recall work carried out a few months back too. Glad to say the light went off after a steady run of motorway miles and been fine since.

I've just suffered same problem. Letter through post couple of weeks ago from Skoda customer service - injectors need changing, contact one of three garages. Booked in with Wings in Peterborough. Waited 3 hours while they changed the injectors. Drove off to couple of other business appointments. Car became very lumpy after a few miles. Remained lumpy until 10 miles from home, DPF light came on oh '**** ', one mile before home coil light starts flashing, when got home another engine light starts flashing. Contacted garage, they immediately stated 'not related to the work we carried out, DPF needs periodically regenerating if used on short journeys' - I argued that the car is regularly used on long journeys and I've rarely seen DPF light come on let alone other lights (limp mode). Wife had to take car in and had to borrow her car for business following day. Phone call midday following day 'yes sir, as we thought, DPF needs re-generating, minimum £200 for us to dedicate a technician with a mobile diagnostic tool and drive the car down the road to achieve the conditions needed to regenerate, or ..... £1000 plus installation for a DPF. Your choice sir what option would you like to take?' What guarantees can you offer? for the re-generation none sir. I had no choice but to try for the re-generation on the basis that they assured me that they have a good success rate. Pick up the car the following day, was unable to get any written guaranee out of them, £320 was the bill. Report states that they successfully re-generated the DPF from 70% saturation down to 15%. Drove to Poole from Northants on Monday, 170 miles on motorways, have taken three short journeys to and fro to a hotel and, blow me, pulled up this evening and DPF light is back on. The phone will be hot tomorrow. There is no question that these injectors are causing DPF issues - I wonder whether they increase the soot loading on the DPF s my understanding is that this design revert to a previous direct injection principal. Advice welcome !!!!

Jesus, reading your post makes my blood boil. The dealer has just robbed you of £320.

Contact Skoda UK first thing in the morning (08457 745745). Refer them to this forum if you have to. Too many people (including me) are suffering issues directly after the injector change and being fobbed off by ill informed dealers.

:wall:

I had similer problem and it was exhaust pressure sensor.
