Octavia fuel economy

Featured Replies

Hi everyone

I'm a first time skoda owner who's just bought a 2010 (60) octavia elegance 1.6tdi from Skoda with 20000 miles on the clock. I've returned a fuel economy over my first 300 miles of 46mpg by dividing fuel used by mileage done when topping up tank(around town and dual carrageway (56mph) driving in mild conditions, very little luggage, no lights on, no AC on). What do others get? Book said I should return 49.6 urban, 72.4 extra urban, 62.8 combined. I appreciate i'll never return that but didn't expect 46mpg. At 56mph, the best the MDi display read was 54mpg and around town 38mpg. Should I be concerned?

Thanks very much for reading this

Thats a little low but could be due to many factors.

Have you checked the tyre pressures? Do you get stuck in traffic? Is it hilly where you are? Have you been driving when its windy? What fuel are you using?

My 2.0TDI averages 50 mpg overall and I check the pressures weekly with a Race X guage. I do 400 miles a week.
