Fitted Turbo Gauge - What numbers to expect

Featured Replies

Fitted a Veilside Turbo gauge at the weekend.

Gauge calibrate 0-2bar boost and -0-60.

show about -45 on idle and up to 0.5-0.7 bar on full throttle.

is this about what to expect. and when I get a remap will there be any difference?

many thanks

vrs should be around 0.8 bar standard, mapped anywhere between 1-1.3 bar depending on mapper :)

Mine on full sometimes peaks at 1.5 bar. Thinking about having the boost wound down a bit.

It's had a remap

dont start saying 1.5 bar on standard turbo on this site! i said mine peaks at 1.4bar once,oh dear big mistake! Lol :)

Lol. Standard VRS is 10psi or 0.7 bar or just over. Remapped stage 1 is usually about 14psi or 1 bar although stage 2 ones go even higher.1.5 bar does sound like a lot but some maps do go for high boost.

Haha yea it is high boost but very smooth. Not had much time to look at it properly. It was sold as it is mapped to 1.2 and peaks at 1.4. It may be peaking as I look at it but I dunno. It doesn't go in to the red so it's all good haha and I rarely boost for long periods

Nearly ten years of experience with these engines says that running high boost does not do them any favours.

High boost doesn't mean high power. But then that is the difference between a good map and a bad one, anyone can crank the boost up for a quick fix....

It was meant to be a good map with some common faults worked out. I may just wind the boost down slightly.

As I said it's smooth.....eases in and pulls well. If I keep my foot down boost does go to about 1.4 then come down n hold at 1.2

In terms of boost 1.3 - 1.4bar is the absolute max a k03s can shift, consistently.

Crazy as it sounds EGT can cause mega problems at those boost levels, I know of loads of people who have cracked their oem exhaust manifolds running 1.2-1.3bar boost on k03's!!!

Steve :)

Ah I've got an updated manifold but yea suppose might be better to wind it down to 1.2 bar or something keep it reliable

Mine has a jabba custom map and spikes to 18psi but for a second then holds 12-14psi

Standard map - 10psi or 7 bar

Map on my car - 1.4 bar or 20psi

Mine was remapped last September and is running the same in terms of boost, so am ok to keep running it or do I need to look at having the boost turned down a little.

Wasn't it mainly the old Custom Code maps that had really high boost?

I remember Garry Curleys car used to peak at 25psi (1.7bar) and hold at 18psi (1.2bar) that was with the CC map. I drove it down the dual carriageway at Ashford and it was savage!

I don't think he ever had any probs with it but then I don't think he drives it much apart from at weekends.

mine is stage 1 and hits around 24psi, my boost gauge isn't very accurate though :giggle:

Mine is going on the rollers as I want a dyno print out as it's never been done. Drives nice and seems a good strong map but we will see!

Lol

My stage 1 REVO'D vRs hits 18psi and holds at that until about 4.5k and tails off to about 15 psi. Been impressed with the revo map its very smooth and pulls really well.
