Silver Estate, Which wheel upgrade on a budget?!

Featured Replies

Looking at getting a set of different wheels to look a bit better on my octy... Got twins being born on the 14th feb, so something on a budget. Around £500 maybe.... Octy isn't lowered so kinda want something that's gonna look ok..... Need to get roof bars & box this year also lol... So yeah....

Car as it is now:

It's just an 1.9tdi ambiente, 58 plate/63K, with a set of parking sensors and a few led bulbs so far....

Oh and a pair of child seats soon too!

Personally i would go for vrs zenith 17s or 18s. There are so many options out there though within the VAG range for £500. Ive got a silver vrs estate and ive gone dark metallic grey on my wheels.

I'd save the money, babies are expensive in my experience! Also if you do go for bigger wheels your car might look like it needs lowering and you'll probably pay more on your insurance.

Yep, I'd agree, stick to some OEM VAG wheels in 17 or 18inch.

You'll find plenty on eBay.

Something along the lines of these two would be my choice- keep it lookign like they could have come out of the factory with those wheels on;

Golf mkV GT Rims

Audi S-line BBS CH

This.

Really.

Get six months in with the kiddies first, then see if you still want to mod your car. :)

Yeah, on second thoughts the little 'uns are more important.

I even find myself thinking about getting rid of the BMW and getting something comfier for ferrying my daughter around! That's how much kids change your priorities!

Fortunately the wifes vRS is the perfect family/performance compromise so I don't have to do anything drastic ;)

Hmm, have seen 18" BBS CH replicas in matt black on flea bay £395. But yeah would need lowering then, and if I lowered it it'd end up in the weeds like all my other lowered cars have been.... But yeah, should save money and stuff, just a bit bored now lol....

Traded in my '08 Clio 197 Cup for the octavia, lost a lot of money but hey ho...

The 197 btw,

Sold it freshly serviced with 25K on the clock, only had it a year too... :-( Very fun car.... Had been detailed by myself not too far back....

Need to detail this one at some point but it's gonna take a while lol!

ps: the flea bay wheel compatibility thing says the CH's won't fit my octy, but they're both 5x112, same 57.1 centre bore yeah?

Some OEM VAG ones or Zeniths would look good but seriously I'd save the money - as a father of twins myself (mine are 6 in 2 weeks) I know what it's like (and what they cost).

Good luck on the birth!

Your Ambiente looks just fine as it is.

In four weeks time you won't know what's hit you.

You'll be suprised how your priority's change, the softly sprung suspension and 16" alloys will be the perfect combination for ensuring the little screaming machines fall off to sleep, if you lower it and fit some rubber banded 18's then they'll be awake after the first pot hole and for the duration of the journey.

Those LED interior bulbs you've fitted, great until you pull the keys out of ignition and on come the interior lights and wake up the little bundle of joy.

Spend the £500 on fitted window blinds, roof bars and roof box!

Stop saying that... *rocks in corner*

Hmm... but they do look nice, and I can always turn the rear off?!!!

Hmm might lightly tint type windows but not much, not really sure about window blinds?!?

But yeah roofbox and bars, was thinking Thule as they're pretty future proof regarding bike carriers or whatever?
