Superb DSG for Taxi use

Featured Replies

Hi there I was wondering now that the superb 2 is a bit longer in the tooth now that if there is anyone with high mileages on thier DSG gearboxes can recomend it for taxi use. I am due to change my A4 octavia shortly it has been extremely reliable albeit a bit uncomfortable so would like to change to an elegance with Dsg to treat myself and work in luxury for a change. Any comments on reliabilty would be appreciated.

Hi Had my dsg elegance 170 estate for 6months now about 12k, no problems, customers love it,a lot of guys round here have bought skodas some of the dsg boxes have done close to 200k without problems.Previous cars have been passats but like you was shy of dsg box in case of problems but they seem to be sorted now.

most of my work is airport runs...50 to 60 mile round trips turning in 50 mpg overall.service and attention at dealership superior to VW.

My previous superb went to shop at 90 000 km for a DSG- and mechatronics-change. And there have been more than a few colleagues that have had that break-down also. One broke down at 30 000 km......

76k and doing fine in my 170 elegance. My best mate has a 260bhp passat 3.2 FSI 4x4 estate DSG and drives it like he has stolen it permanently. It is very fast and the DSG takes everything he throws at it, he has done 80k!!

He is on his second engine!! But origional DSG!!

His oil pump in his detuned r32 engine gave up first!!!

Thanks for the feedback so far. I think I will be leaning towards a manual box. The costs involved in a new mech unit or gearbox are too scary for me. Most of my taxi work is all local with very little motorway work and I think it would be really hard on a dsg box.
