Daylight Lights and Stop/Start Questions

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Have had my new Fabia Estate Greenline II for 2 months - 1400 miles travelled.

A couple of weeks ago, admittedly during very heavy rain, the 'faulty light' warning light came on. I pulled in, stopped the car, and started off again. The light went out.

10 mins later, it came on again. I stopped/started again, and this time it stayed off.

I did check the lights and all I found was that the rear daylight lights weren't working.

So I booked into the garage. When I got down there, I was told that there are no rear daylight lights - only front ones; ie. there is no problem.

Is this so???

Yesterday, I went out with the wife for a 20 mile drive out into Kent. The stop/start function on the car would not work - it just wouldn't switch off. I tried switching the car off/on; I tried the switch by the handbrake. Nothing worked. So I thought I'd have to book another trip to the dealer.

But after a couple of hours, on the return journey, it worked absolutely fine - no problem wahtsoever.

Any ideas???

So two intermittent problems!!

Thanks in advance.

Dave

First problem a minor glitch. I had it once. Checked all lights and they were fine. Next time I started the car no problem.

Done over 10,000 miles since then and no bulb failure light and no bulbs have gone.

No daytime running lights on the rear. This is correct.

They are just so people see you coming and don't pull out etc...

Second problem problem could be many things and it probably isn't a problem.

Stop-start will not work if:

DPF is on a regen cycle, (my money is on this one)

There is too much drain on the battery (like lights, heater on full etc...),

Engine not warmed up enough,

Battery needs a good charge due to period of many stops and starts,

etc...

If the stop start system develops a fault it will say "stop - start - error" in the display.

Hi Bossfox,

Just a big thanks for your informative response.

I reckon you're right and it was on a DPF regen.

All the best, Skoda forever.

Dave

Hopefully now you know the DRL's are only on the front you'll turn dipped headlights on in the rain too
