Hello Mike!

avoid black series from Varta,is for very basic old cars with no optionals. and the 53 Amp is too weak for your car, check the varta catalogue for VRS below

Blue series 60 Amps is best choice,or if you want something really strong go for the 63 Amps Silver Series.

Nice one mate, I'm leaning towards a Bosch http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Skoda_Octavia_1.8_2002/p/car-parts/car-electrics-and-car-lighting/electrical/car-battery/?444770277&1&5600b0afdbc42d0f773feba511eb711ead5e7d50&000020 what do you reckon?

Thanks

Just go on eurocarparts, type your reg in, & it'll show you all the batteries for your car. Good prices too.

Costco are v cheap for the 5 star Bosch ones too, 58 quid inc I think with 5 year warranty.

Exide are good, high cranking power and ampage to run the biggest of electronics in your car.

If you really want to spend yellow top batteries are top quality, but top dolla too!

I had Bosch on previous 2 cars and personally wasn't too happy.

Never had a problem with Bosch batteries on any of my VAG cars.
