vRS CR TDI engine noise

Featured Replies

I had a pre FL diesel vRS CR before my current TDi140CR. I found the engine droned quite noticeably between an indicated 75 and 90 (on continental motorways officer) which is pretty much my only criticism of an otherwise excellent (and still missed) car. Has anyone driven both pre and post FL models and noticed whether the FL diesel vRS models suffer from this too? Was there more sound deadening as part of the FL update as I am tempted to buy another vRS but, as I spend most of my time on the motorway, I don't want to lose all of the high speed engine refinement I currently enjoy in the 140CR.

Thanks

Apologies about this but what do you think of the 140CR please? - it is a bit quiet out there, cheers

No need for apologies mate. The 140CR is fantastic. It is really torquey and revs to 5000 no problem. Over 32000 miles in the past year I have averaged 52mpg using brim to brim calculations. It took about 20,000 miles to properly loosen up and now doesn't feel a huge amount slower than my previous vrs on the motorway. Gearing gives an indicated 80mph at bang on 2000rpm.
