Columbus confusion...

Help!

I've just bought an Octavia VRS with a Columbus headunit installed. It didn't come with a manual but after some button pushing and internet research I have it mostly figured out. What a great piece of kit!

The thing thats throwing me is this whole firmware/update maps business. Although up to date maps would be great, what I really need is 7 digit postcode entry. I live in the sticks where work takes me to some out of the way places and REALLY don't want to have to resort to my old Garmin nav stuck on the windscreen... How embarassing!!!

So would this require an expensive trip to a dealer?

What firmware/software do I need to get up to date?

How does one even upgrade firmware?

Whats the cost effective way to do it?

Any help appreciated. Well, you wouldn't want me getting lost would you!

You need firmware version 2XXX or later and V7 maps.

Depending on your relationship with your local dealer, they might do it for free. If they do it for free they will not give you the disc

I got the supplying dealer to do it before I took delivery of my S/H Superb

Hi, and thanks for your reply. So the firmware as well as the maps is something my (very friendly) dealer can tackle. I thought I was going to have to do something technical on the firmware side... Never a good idea!
