Sat. Nav. Fitting

Featured Replies

When I sold my last car (Vectra V6) I removed the Sat Nav I had in the car with the intention of having it fitted in my new car (vRS WRC).

When I enquired at my local Dealer who fitted the system in the first place I was told I needed a "Speed Pulse Generator" & a new bracket for the remote LCD Screen. (he wanted

There are people who will know better than me, but I know that GALA on the ICE radio setup in Skoda's is a way of the ICE increasing volume automatically as speed increases to compensate for road noise. It can be adjusted to 9 different settings on the Symphony model.

Hope this helps :?

I'd imagine it does work off speed rather than noise, and as such could be what you're after.

Usual disclaimers apply though... :D

check the old posts on here.. i remember reading that octavias do have a speed pulse signal as std...

Yes I recall reading that too.

My local car audio dealer re-fitted my Panasonic DVD sat nav system into my Octavia and though they initially warned me that I might need a speed pulse adaptor, subsequently found that it is NOT required.

The ISO connector has a speed signal to allow the radio to adjust the volume according to the car's speed.

I have a Clarion NAV613 system fitted in my vRS and I deal with Clarion with my work.

They actually run a VRS and Leon Cupra in their fleet and faxed me a wiring diagram - which I sent to my dealer - saving the

Is GALA Speed controlled or something else (Noise?)

If it is speed controlled this would make sense.

Anyone fitted anything ??

PS I really miss the electronic "nagging" of my Sat Nav. lady blandly telling me where to get off (the roundabouts!) !!

I have Sat Nav in my Occy TDi - The speed pulse for this was taken from the back of the radio (Hence the GALA auto Volume adjustment). I rang up the dealer asked which wire and they rang me back 5 mins. later and told me which one to tap into.
