Android Question

Featured Replies

This is starting to do my head in!

Predictive Text works on email, texts, text boxes online But doesnt work on browser, google search or ebay. Anyway of getting the damn thing working?? Worked on my old blackberry

I have this problem occasionally.

Semmingly random as to whether it want to 'predict' or not which is really annoying for me as i use the old skool 3x4 keyboard.

What version are you running? Seems better on the later ones as in it will now predict on Google but still not on some other websites or apps.

version 2.3.5. Just wont do it in the search, address bar or Ebay app seems to work everywhere else. I have to load the O2 active page and use that. I use the 3x4 too

I think this is not an Android specific problem but rather down to the app and web developers.

They have the option when coding their app and web sites to issue commands to say whether predictive text can be used or not.

Just like in some input boxes it is picked up as a number input needed and goes straight to number input or shows the "@" and ".com" in some inputs.

It's just pot luck as to what flags have been set in the coding.

does it depend which keyboard you are using? I use swift key and don't recall these issues

Would of thought Google would of kept it on their search app seeing its their software lol

Blame Samsung in the examples you've cited.

Works fine on my HTC ;)

Some text boxes aren't labeled as such by web devs, so sometimes boxes on forms won't work.
