cant sleep, bored and come across this on the tube...

hats off to you boys,i would love to do that and the Estate done very very well if it was 4 up.

Im sure you posted this a long time ago, but as a noob i would like to show my appreciation.

Nicely played fellas.

Lol. I've got one somewhere of me driving my old hatchback on it a few years back. Brilliant cars for the Ring, get you there in comfort, economical and reliable but still enough performance to put a smile on your face :)

That estate in the vid used to be driven (and abused) by one of my mates in Sevenoaks police, when I told him we'd taken it to the Ring the look on his face was priceless :)

Cool. Will have a look when I get home tonight and have sound.

There are some awesome laps on youtube of the ring.

Still feel I should go round some time.

What is it like for someone with no ring experience taking it steady? I would intend on hammering it on the straights but taking it easy round the bends and not wanting to cook the brakes. I have seen many videos where people of lost the back end etc on the long fast bends and smacked into the barrier. Really don't want that to happen! lol

For the first few laps stick to the right and drive normally...don't try to push it or take the racing line, and keep an eye out for bikes and faster cars and you'll be fine. Always keep in the back of your mind that someone up ahead may have dropped oil or fluids and at the speed you're doing are you going to be able to save the car if you hit a spill. My first lap I almost understeered into the Armco at Klostertal (corner at about 8:06 minutes into Tibbs' video above), that was a wake up call to slow the f*** down!

I'm not sure if I will ever drive it again in my own car, the question of insurance is too touchy - I just count myself lucky I did it and got away with it. Might consider hiring one of the Suzukis or a cheap Golf out there next time.

theres not really much run off there is there? I can onyl compare to goodwood but the runs off there are a lot larger.

Yeh that's how I'd be driving. Seen videos where there's been a crash rond a corner and someone comes flying round the corner. Some very near misses.

There's a lot to loose if I were to trash the car out there so would take it very easy.

Yes there were a lot of Suzuki Swift's, VW Scirocco's and even some Porsche GT3 RS's wizzing round when I was last there with "Rent Race Car.de" on the side. That might be a better option!

Ot just pay to be taken round in the M5... Bargain at 195 euros! Or even to go round in an Aston V8 Vantage for 295 euros.

Or the Dodge Viper if they've still got it? The M5 is a hoot, especially if Sabines driving. We shared it between 3 of us first year we went.

It's not the trashing my car that I worry about, or even hitting the armco and having to pay for that.

It's what would happen if I caused an accident involving a few bikers, Porsches etc. My UK car insurance would have to pay out third party costs due to EU law, but then they would take me to court to reclaim that money... potentially six figure sums... bye bye house!

Good lap guys.

I did this just over a year ago in my vRS!
