Rough cold start, rev counter all over the place...

Featured Replies

Recently just got my car back from the garage as some nice person crashed into me a few weeks ago, then yesterday after starting it in the cold which was much more rattley than normal it started playing up in 4th, 5th and 6th gears once the car was warm...

Needle will go up fine then suddenly jump 500 revs or so then drop back again and it just doesn't feel like the car is pulling the same as it used to, this is only happening in the top 3 gears at about 2000rpm for some reason, any ideas?

Car is completely standard under the engine btw.

Thanks

No promises, but the thump could have dislodged sediment in the fuel tank. Start by getting the fuel filter changed, and taking advice on whether or not the tank needs cleaned based on the state of the old filter.

I was thinking more along the lines of dodgy MAF sensor... its due a service in the next 700 miles or so, so ive just booked it in for next week and have everything looked at at the same time, aslong as its not the turbo... can't really afford my hybrid yet :(
