Scout Oil Filler Cap

Featured Replies

Now I know I'm a wimp - just ask the wife - but I have had to top up the oil in my 2011 diesel Scout a couple of times, and I have been unable to turn the oil filler cap without the aid of a mole wrench to grip it and twist it.

Is it just me or is there a knack to it that I haven't discovered? Or is it just a case of RTFM?

Alan

Just turn anti-clockwise to remove ,as ever.:S

Smear the rubber seal with clean oil to ease it a bit. Mine is still a bit tight to remove but better than than rattling loose.B)

went to check my scout oil filler cap after reading your post it was stuck a little but once freed was fine perhaps the heat sort of glued it on. didnt need mole grips though

VRS is the same, always has been. Sometimes I can get enough purchase with a cloth or rag on it but I've often has to resort to mole grips.
