gtechniq G1 G4 aplication

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have just received a G1/G4 kit in the post, hjoping to apply it this weekend.

Can anyone give any tips for the application, (I have read through all the instructions and it seems simple enough)

The tiny bottle of G1 looks way too small! The only thing I need now is the advised cotton cloth, I have some Muslin towels, 100% cotton, are these suitable?

Yes mate the little bottle will be enough to do your whole car. This link has a video on it for G1 application which will show you exactly what to do.

I used one of our bathroom hand towels to remove the residue left by the G2 residue remover (don't tell the wife! ).

As for the G4 glass polish I used a "german applicator" to apply it as it gave a little extra "bite" to help remove any contaminants on the glass.

Thanks for that, somehow I missed the last video on the page!

I may be being a bit thick or missing the joke, but what is a german applicator?

Its not a pun. A german applicator is a type of foam pad that is made up of three layers of different coloured foam; red, yellow and black. So it looks a bit like the German national flag.

Its not essential to use one for the G4 application. I just felt it helped. Also the german pad is quite big so I could polish the windscreen in less time.

haha whew, glad I wasnt being stupid...

Thanks for the reply's...

Now for some dry weather to get it done!

No worries. If you work steadily you should get the whole job done in 45 minutes.

Just make sure not to let the G4 polish linger on the glass as it can be a pain to get off. Just apply it and remove it pretty much straight away. Keep a damp cloth handy for any tough residue and for if you inadvertantly get any on your paintwork or trim.
