Power Gains?

Featured Replies

Ok so I'm pretty happy with how the car looks now so I'm moving onto performance.

I'm kind of new to the whole performance upgrade scene, but there are some things I do and don't want.

I don't want it to make much more noise or tschh or anything like that, I like it as it is.

I don't want a Civic type exhaust that sets car alarms off.

I can't afford a bigger turbo! :'(

I love the sleeper idea the power is there but nobody knows but me.

I just want power!!

To start I already have it mapped (I know ill have to get it redone :wall: )

I've been told to start with a Custom Decat

Forge Recirculation Valve

Forge TIP

But is there any other cheap or better upgrades to add some extra ponies to the car?

I'm a noob to the RS tuning scene but from what i've read on here since joining you wont really get much more power from the mods you've mentioned. If you've still got the standard recirc valve fitted and its working as it should then there would be no need to replace it with a forge item. Any thing that makes the car breath better can only be good ie the decat but I dont think you'd see that much extra bhp from this alone on a standard exhaust. From what i've seen you have to start spending some big bucks to get noticable power gains after a stage 1 map ie FMIC, turbo back system, larger turbo, 4 bar fpr etc etc.

if you already have it remapped i think theres very little exra you can get from the standard turbo think 225bhp is tops and a remap takes you to around 210  you would need a upgraded intercooler of some kind a decat and exhaust system anything over that and i think you will need a bigger turbo and going stage 2

Best bet is full turbo back exhaust system with a sports cat or decat, a decent intercooler and a custom map.

You can buy all sorts of other bolt-on goodies like TIPs, inlet manifolds, lightened pulleys, inlet manifold gaskets etc but at that point you're spending £££s on things that will just give you a handful of extra bhp, the money would've been better spent on a hybrid or big turbo.

Thinking about it I'm not sure if there is any point in doing any of this, as the turbo is running at 97%. Might just go with the recirculation valve, oil catch can and clean the standard smic.

I think there is probably one saying that covers this whole thread and that is: If Aint Broke, Dont Fix It.

Good luck buddy

why answer when you clearly dont know !!!!

225 is not max output of a k03s far from it !!!!

decat down pipe on a standard system will work very well coupled with a map alteration with spool

stage 2 with front mount ( stop the heat soak run a bit more boost) 240+

2 many peeople on here who havent a clue and give other rubbish info imo

not that expensive either if you grab some second hand bargains remebering 1.8t is in lots of different cars ;-)

hybrids is becoming a cheaper option and good bang for bucks but the surrounding cost to do it properly again rule that out !

a well setup 230+ octy is a fast car with supporting chassis mods
