Superb estate 4x4 suspension

Featured Replies

My dealer sales rep told me the 4x4 superb estate has it's suspension tweeked , He was not able to elaborate on exactly how. Does anyone know what the difference is from the 2WD version. I at present have the Octavia scout which I am more than happy with, I wondered if apart from the raised clearance, was it similar in feel on the road. I could not get a test drive on a Superb 4X4 to see for myself.

Hi BobW,

I took possession of my new Superb Combi 4x4 about two weeks ago. I ordered it with the rough road package, but I'm not sure if that's available in the UK. However, mine sits around 20 odd mm's higher than the non- 4x4m (probably similar to your scout, but without all the cladding etc). For the past two days, I'm driving a new Greenline Superb Combi as dealer is fitting Skoda tow bar. Apart from the reduced power, I've noticed that my 4x4 feels ever so slightly more "stuck" to the road, especially when cornering. So far, I can't fault either model for what they offer. But I do prefer the 4x4!!! It was well worth the wait!! If you decide to go for a Superb 4x4, you won't be disappointed!!

Please see the other 4x4 thread with the 1.8 TSI to be slow compared to 2wd

Having had my Suberb 4x4 for two weeks after having had a Scout for three years, I'd say that the suspension is a little softer in the Suberb, and you don't get the typical Scout "clunk" if you go over speed bump too fast. But it's early days yet for a full comparision

I have ordered the Superb estate SE 4x4 ,I don't expect it to be as firm as the Scout, but the Suberb estate has other advantages, everything you do has a compromise, it is OK as long as you understand what they are.The no VAT is a big swing in the balance, and the Scout does not have it now.The comments given are welcome and appreciated .

Thanks Bob Wilson

Superb Estate 4x4 has the same suspension as 2wd Superb'. (i believe!)

4x4 with Rough road includes raised suspension and underbody protection.

This however, is not an option available in the Uk.

I have driven both 2WD and 4x4.

I could not tell any difference between them apart from a better feel with the 4x4's roadholding.

Hi Phyl,

Thanks for that information , I am only interested in the road holding, not the ground clearance ,so that makes me feel better about my choice.
