170 with dsg

Featured Replies

At what speeds does your superb 170cr with dsg on light throttle change up into 5th and then 6th.

bill

My previous 170 CR DSG twindoor when warm and well run-in was in 6th at around 30-35, something I very much miss with the current V6 Combi, which with about 1600 miles on the clock rarely goes above 4th until 35mph and soon drops back when speed drops. The CR was better holding on to higher gears due to low down torque..

thanks for the reply

my old 140pd was the same would stay in 4th for along time i always wished it would change up .

but now i have the 170cr it seems go into 5th and 6th very early to me the car seems to be in too high a gear and you get a bit off vibration as if you was driving a manual and went from 3rd to 5th gear.would you say thats how your old car was.

bill

I found myself accelerating quickly to get into the higher gear (for economy reasons mainly) and found the engine quite capable of holding it - but it wasn't until later in life that it was seemless and smooth. It seems as though the engine needs 20K on the clock before it really is loose and it became a much better car the more miles I piled on it.

I did find myself hold 35 rather than 30 mph though !

come on you guys i need the feed back.

Mine holds 5th gear at 30 in cruise control on the level I haven't seen when it changes to 6th but will watch for it

thanks for the reply,if you could also make a mental note when it changes down from 6 to 5 as well, i would appreciate.

thank you bill

My easy driving up-changes are 32mph into 5th, 42mph into 6th.

hi deek

mine changes up at the same speed, but when it goes into 5th and 6th it fills like the car is in too high a gear just a slight vibration as if your in the wrong gear .

would you say yours is like this.

bill

You mean as in it's not going fast enough to be in that gear? If so, I can't say I've noticed it 'struggling'.

yes thats what it seems like to me ,your car does not do this then ,not even a slight vibration?

thanks for the response.looks like i will have to take it back to skoda and ask them to have another look at this

what with this and the Columbus taking 2- 3 minuets to start in the mornings i am not a happy bunny with the new car. or could it just be me being too picky?
