Problems with stalling after a recall injectors fix. Anyone else?

Featured Replies

I have a Skoda Octavia vRS TDI 2007 plate and just had the injectors replaced as part of a recall during a service. Since then the car has started stalling and has never once stalled before. Has anyone had a similar experience? Could the new injectors be linked to the stalling?

Thanks for any input.

Cheers

Rich

i had mine done today 56plate vrs, mine stalled a few times before they replaced them and wiring harness (i paid for that myself as not included in recall anymore heard stories that this can cause shorts to the injectors)

only driven approx 70miles since injectors replaced today but i can report that no stalls or any problems touch wood.......

i would suggest taking it back as they did the work and it was fine before !

Thanks for the feedback. Could a problem with the injectors cause stalling?

search for this in the forum - VAG 170 PS Diesel Injector Failures - VOSA action

this will give you an idea of how big the problem has been with these injectors

the failing injectors do cause stalling often without any warning...

thats why i suspected my injectors were of the siemens variety which are the faulty type injectors so when i went to have them checked i wasnt surprised to find they have replaced them with bosch injectors..

you should have the new bosch injectors too as you had them fitted recently - only thing i can think of is that the wiring harness is faulty or the plug connectors on 1 or more injectors isnt seated correctly or was damaged when replacing the injectors.

The new injectors are continental, not Bosch. The stalling could be any number of things. Take it back to the garage and get it checked by them as its only happened since the repair.

I had this too, apparantly after the injector change the DPF regens much more frequently for a few thousand miles until things settle down again.

If the car is brought to a stop mid way through a regen then it can cause it to stall.

Mine did it twice shortly after the injector change but its not done it again since.

I would echo the advice above to read the established injector thread as there are plenty of other side effects of the injector change.

Mine has been absolutely fine since the injector swap last Friday.

BTW, I'm not sure where this thing about replacement injectors being Bosch has come from. That's definitely not the case. Also, Continental IS Siemens.

Thanks, very useful. The garages default response is 'they're unlikely to be connected' so this gives me some ammunition. Thanks everyone for comments.

Strange as it is though the old injectors have Siemens written on them, and the modified ones Continental.

Hi mate.

I've had the same problem. Car keeps cutting out and I have also had the injectors replaced and found the car to be down on power at times as well. I phoned skoda who said that the both are not linked. I find this very hard to believe as the car never cut out before I had the injectors replaced.

Yeah, the sale of the car parts business went through a few years ago so I guess it figures that they've gotten around to branding everything Continental now.

It's very important to make sure they replace the wiring loom as this can create problems too,the loom is not free but it's only 89€ or whatever that is in pounds , it's well worth it tho in the long run as these looms are very weak!

I was advised to change mine so I did,but some dealers might not advise so u need to ask!

You think you've got it bad, after my injectors were replaced my car stalls, takes an age to start, mixes fuel with the oil and eats turbo's once a month.

The key here is be persistant with the dealer. Good luck.

Got mine replaced on Monday. No problems yet.
