Diesel fuel filter replacement interval on 1.9 PD (BXE) engine

Featured Replies

Can anyone tell me the recommended service interval for a fuel filter on a 1.9 PD engine (BXE engine type) 58 plate Octavia, please?

In the service handbook that came with the car it lists it in three places:

1 "Engine oil change": "Replace the fule filter (on diesel engines, for diesel operation with a high sulphur content)". It references footnote 1 which says "Your Skoda service partner will inform you of the countries in which the diesel has a high sulphur content".

2 "Inspection service": "Replace fuel filter (for diesel engines, in diesel operation, which do not comply with DIN EN 590)".

3 "In addition every 90000km": "Replace fuel filter (for diesel engines, in diesel operation, which do not comply with DIN EN 590)".

The text in number 3 is identical to that in number 2, but it also says an inspection service interval is 30000km or 2 years, so how can it get to 90000km without getting to 30000km first?

From what I can make out all UK diesel is not high sulphur and does comply with DIN EN 590, so does that mean the fuel filter is fit for life?????

Ant

It's normally changed at the 60,000 mile service.

Fuel filter:

Diesel engines

Diesel according to EN 590 Every 90 000 km

Diesel not according to EN 590 Biodiesel Every 30 000 km

Diesel with sulphur content ? 2000 ppm   Every 7 500 km

Says on the pumps: all the diesel I ever saw in the UK was marked EN 590. So 90000 km (55800 miles)

From Skoda Maintenance manual for Octavia 2004 on and 2010 on. (Edition 10.2011)

PS I do mine every two years (too much chance of getting illegal washed diesel in Ireland)

I have the 1.9 BXE and had mine changed at 40K at the dealers as they said thats when it should be changed.
