Picked up new Superb today, quick question for you.

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I picked up my superb elegance 1.6 today, and just had a quick query.

If I try to turn on the parking assist it tells me that the speed is too low. This happened during the demo but neither myself or the sales guy minded as traffic was so busy we found it hard to find a spot and I was in such a hurry I gladly skipped it. He had just started the car and informed me we had to go above 10kph since start in order for it to work.

I tried it again this evening and its still coming on, despite the car haven been driven at up to 120kph and at the time of pressing the button I was doing about 20kph.

Also could anyone advice me about breaking the car in, many people have said that I should keep it below 100kph for the first 1000km, other said 120kph and other still said it did not matter.

Cheers

Tom

Hi,

Can't comment regarding park assist but page 180 of the manual should help regarding the recommended running in procedure.

My manual (on page 118) says (my emboldening):

Switch on display of the park assist in the information display*

– Press the button fig. 127.

– Drive past the parking row up to maximum 30 km/h and with a

distance of 0.5 m to 1.5 m fig. 128.

Operate the turn signal for the driver's side if you wish to park on this side of the

road. In the information display* the search area for the parking place is indicated

on the driver's side.

If the button is pressed above a speed of 30 km/h, the display appears in the display

of the instrument cluster as soon as you drive slower than 30 km/h.

Manual came with my '58-plate Superb II 170CR DSG Elegance. Yours is a later model, but I'd hope that the Owner's Manual wouldn't be subject to cost-cutting! :)

Hello feighery,

I picked up my ex-demo Superb 103TDI 2013 this week and it is doing exactly the same as you described.  To those people who suggest reading the manual I have done so very carefully and the manual indicates that "speed too low" is reported if the car has not exceeded 10kph during the trip.  I have had the car up to 100kph and as soon as you press the Park Assist button "Speed to low" is displayed on the dash.

Feighery, what was the fix for your car?

Cheers.

Mine did it.

its a known issue.

No matter what speed I did, it said that same message

It requires a software update at the dealer

Had that done, and its been fine since

Cheers

Two trips to the Skoda service centre later and its fixed so hopefully this will help the next person to score this issue and save some time.  Software update performed on the first visit did not fix.  Fixed after the second visit and the service notes state:

"Checked steering assistance module setting.  Found channel 4 set to setting 2, reset channel 4 to setting 1 & tested, all now ok."
