Lack of power

Featured Replies

Hello everyone. Sorry about my english. I'm from Slovenia and my english is not very good.

I have a problem with my Octavia RS 1.8 turbo. When i drive on a highway at about 100-130 km/h (60-80 mp/h) the car starts to lose power (The same as if i take my foot of the gas pedal). This happens only once a month and only at speed around 60 mp/h. Yesterday this happened and gas pedal did not respond for about 10 seconds (if i pushed pedal nothing happend - rpm stayed idle at around 800 rpm).

Can you please help me? I'm desperate :(

Sounds like your throttle body could be playing up. Have you had the car scanned for fault codes?

I had the car scanned for fault codes and there are no faulty codes :(

Are your brake lights working? Sometimes if the brake switch is broken it can affect the throttle.

Brake light switch doesn't have to stop working altogether there's 2 switches in it when got mine from vw I was told it was an upgraded part

Hi does it occur when your turning hard too?

Brake light switch cost me alot of diagnostic time at Jabba and even they didn't spot it. It's dual circuit as previous posts have pointed out. Code will only show up randomly, worth changing it anyway , for the sake of a few Euros. Try taking it out and shaking it - it will rattle.

@modra_vrs: I doesn't occur if I turn hard. It only occurs when i'm on a highway and doing about 60-70 mph.

I've already changed brake switch. What is TB and MAP sensor?
