how will my car be different with just. a pd150 turbo?

Featured Replies

I have a remap, sach clutch with 179bhp and 340 torque. If I just swapped my turbo for a 150 not hybrid, what kind of figures would I have and how would the car feel different to now?

Power would depend. If yours is currently overfueling at all then the extra air created by the bigger compressor will help burn it off creating more power. If you've got enough air already to burn the fuel then I'd imagine very little gain.

The n75 map is different on the pd150/160 so until the map is tweaked boost control will be probably be less then perfect. Simply logging using channel 11 will show this. The PID controller is the same.

Goin quite techical there pal. Lol. Ok then, 150 turbo and a fresh re map. Will the power band move at all? I still want my low down torque and don't really want more lag

Might move up to 190 with a good remap, with power band probably a bit more "revvy" if that makes sense. Slightly better breathing/power at the top end. Might not notice it though if you've been at 180bhp for some time.

Would there be an improvement it torque?

Lol sorry mike. People say they are a little more laggy (it is bigger after all) but can't see it being much.

Once on boost it will create more air across the rev range than the smaller turbo which creates room for more fueling. So yes will mean more bhp/torque as they're both related.

So lbft x rpm / 5252 = bhp

That make sense?

Thanks for them mate

If you get it done, gives a shout. Wouldn't mind mapping one. :)

Don't worry mate not forgot about ya wanting read my map. Just had a lot on recently, new baby, house sale etc

You need an intercooler....

170bhp is too much for the standard one

By all means fit a pd150 for 190bhp for all of 5 seconds to be heat soaked back down to stock power

Agreed you need an Intercooler. My car had a pd150 turbo fitted when i brought it.

At 7degrees I was getting charge temps of 100+

Fitted a seatsport cooler today will post up the results tomorrow.

Stock pd130 will get to 90c in less than 20 seconds on a normal summer day. That's with 1.35bar boost.

Now some tuners up the turbo to 1.6bar. A PD150 turbo is good for around 1.6 to 1.65bar. So can't see heat soak being much worse unless your tuner increases it to 1.7+bar.

Not sure at what temp the ecu reduces fuel. Will need to lookup the map.

Nice comparison :)
