K&N Air Filter Panel for 1.9TDI PD

Featured Replies

Hi Lads. Is it worth to fit above to the remapped 1.9TDI PD Fabia MK2..? I'm not confident in fitting the induction kit but was considering above as an option. What are the pros and cons..?

Cheers, Matty

My friend has the K&N Panel filter fitted in his Fiesta ZS (diesel one), i asked him and he said he hasnt really seen any difference at all. So from his point of view only + is that its a lifetime filter.

Thanks Mate. Heard rumours these add 1-2 bhp, are good for your engine and save money as these last for really long time. Was wondering if these are worth the extra money and safe for your engine...

Iv got the revo one in my vrs , it makes a very slight diffrence but you would need to get it on a rolling road to check how much of a diffrence

What about the sound..? I know petrol cars sound better with one of these fitted but I wonder if it's the same in diesels...

Bit of a whooshy sound. I had a rubbish universal cone halfords one lieing about from my old car an it sounded fantastic but it was sucking in too much hot air and that a big problem on the vrs. When it was on my old 1.2htp polo it made is sound like a proper race car

i considered getting an ITG panel filter for my 1.9pd but i have read that regular diesels don't really gain any performance using them so i just got my car remapped with std paper filter.Paper filters are best for keeping dust out of engine but they clog up very quickly where as cotton/foam filters last a lot longer and breath easier over greater mileage as they allow more contaminated air in.

My last car a Colt Diesel had a ITG foam panel filter and it made no difference that i could detect but it paid for itself as i did 53000miles before i traded car.

I doubt it would give anything at all TBH, a diesel engine doesnt change its fuelling for more air flow like a petrol (unless the CR works differently to the PD) so the in effext you might have capacity for more airflow but the car is highly unlikely to need it until you start upping other things like fuelling etc.

do these need some special; k n n cleaning fluid?
