What is peak torque on MkI vrs?

Featured Replies

As above, what is the peak torque figure for a MkI vrs running stock? I always thought it was 235nm, however did some logging with vagcom yesterday and it showed a peak of 254nm and an old rolling road print out from the previous owner shows 260+nm

Cheers guys

Book figures were 240nm or 175ft/lbs

IIRC VAG-com calculates torque using the MAF figure to calculate an approx bhp then does the usual calculation with the bhp and revs to get the torque so if the MAF isn't 100% it gives a funny torque figure. And every RR is different, I'd say 260Nm would be the result of an inaccurate RR.

Either that or its remapped! But a stage 1 remap is usually 300nm or more.

Cheers Chicken,

I figured it was a bit optimistic, although having checked the Awesome RR figures from 2 years ago that definitely reads 260nm - goes to show what they say about RRs.

Vagcom logs showed peak bhp of 182bhp yesterday, even if that's a couple bhp off still fairly pleased with it for an 8 year old car :)
