My personal choice would be spend

Get an E30 M3 or a Porsche 944 Turbo.... you'll should get a pretty nice example of either, and plenty of change for the fuel and insurance. RWD, silly quick, both would be great fun to drive, lovely engines.

Its what I would do if I could afford to run such a car.

Edit: didnt read the bit about 5 doors :o

Edit 2: What about a Lotus Carlton ?

Don't buy anything that isn't fun to drive ....get a long test drive in all of them and then decide......recently had an Octy 2 for 2 days and loved it to bits...but can't talk about the others as I have never driven them.

Only ever seen one Lotus Carlton in my whole life, looked a complete beast of a car. Quite rare arent they?

I have had a test drive in a an Octy and a Leon Cupra. they are both 180bhp but the leon did feel a little more urgent. Liked the space in the Octy though. Once chipped does the Octy feel much quicker everywhere, or just a bit more top end?. Don,t know whether i like the idea of everyone thinking i might be plod as well.
