Won't rev above 2,500?

Featured Replies

20 Month old 2.0d Superb. This evening it suddenly got sluggish, when I stopped it wouldn't pass 2,500 rpm. Wonder what has happened?

Do you mean when sat still it won't rev past 2,500 or when driving?

If when sat still they don't, it's supposed to be like that. Should rev past if ESP/ASR is switched off, that's how we do smoke tests.

Sounds like limp home mode. There may be some on here who can help otherwise if it is that then it is a garage reset but wait for other comments.

Do you have any dashboard warning lights on?

Sorted! I went for another drive just now and as I accelerated I heard a crack down around the pedals. A stone chip was on the floor so it must have been caught in the hinge of the accelerator padal. It's fine again thank god.

I hadn't realised they won't pass 2,500 rpm when stalled. Thanks for the quick replies lads.

Would have been an interesting coversation wit the mechanic

"Yes we have fixed it, very complicated and needed our expertise. You did the right thing brining it to us, that will be £100 please"
