Internal lighting with panorama-roof

Featured Replies

Hi

I have a 2012 Skoda Superb STV with the panorama-roof that I use as a taxi.

It's a great car, but there is a slight(really mayor) problem in the lighting department.

I want to be able to turn on the lights in the back-seat with a switch in the front. The ones with solid roof will turn on the back-seat lighting when you press the main-interior-lighting switch, but the ones with panorama-roof is wired in another way.

I have talked to my local dealer, and apparently it's more or less impossible to make my car behave in the same way as the solid-roof model.

Does anyone know if/how this could be fixed?

Could I just do a little rewiring/coding?

BTW: When a front door is opened, the whole coupe is lit up. Would a possible solution be to trick the car into thinking that a front door has been opened?

The very best would be to use the switch that is already there, but I am also willing to add an extra switch.

The Mark1 had the same problem, I took it to an auto electrician, and he got 2 back lights from an older vag model without the on off switches on them, he then ran wires from them to the front light through the roof lining and soldered then to the internals somehow, result putting on the front also put on the back.

The rear lights next the grab handles should all be the same size so possibly you could do the same thing

Something like that might be an option, but apparently the wiring is a bit more "High tech" in the MKII. The technichian I talked to thought that something like that could throw off the light-warning system, and it would be a pretty large job.

At current I am mostly inclined to tricking the door-sensor in some way.
