312mm brakes quick question

Featured Replies

So I stuck ebay gold and got a set of leon cupra calipers , carriers , disks and pads for 50 quid .

Im reading mixed answers on here and other forums but the question I have is .

Can I use the old calipers on the new carriers and disks?

I'm only asking as it would save swapping the calipers and bleeding the system.....

Cheers in advance .

No, you need to swap the whole lot over

swap them mate!

Edited out incorrect info

im mostly concerned about swapping over the brake lines?

You retain standard lines mate! Just a small bolt on each hose at the calliper end to swap. Then bleed the system with something like a Gunson eezibleed pressure bleeder

Yeah the 312's have a much larger piston so swap them mate!

Both pistons are 54mm in diameter.

Really! I stand corrected, honestly thought the 312's looked bigger.

ahe carriers are totally different.

the std ones have a bottom part on the front and I would think the octy/leon carriers wont fit the std callipers anyway.

when you bleed them use the eeazii bleed thing and also push the calliper back at same time while your bleeding to get every bit of air out mate, took me a fair few goes but all done now. Awesome brakes over the std crap.

For some reason noone replied to any of my questions/threads Ive had in the fabia section so ended up trial and error for me.  Sure Ill sort my washers out too seen as noone replied lol oh well.

youll love the new brakes mate, get the rears too, also a nice improvement

Cheers for the help guys.

by swapping the lines I meant moving it from one caliper to the other not actually swiching the lines.

Can I bleed the brakes without a bleedeR?

I a jar , some tubing and a friend?

Don't think that would work, I'm sure they have to be bled under some kind of pressure.

would work but you run the risk of damage to the MC and also not getting all the air out.  For the sake of £15 its well worth getting one. Got mine from Screw fix.
