After 3.5 years found it

Featured Replies

I have managed to find where I had a knocking sound coming from, when I drive along a bumpy road.

I have had the car checked and checked again to no avail

Yesterday I found it, under the bonnet at the front where the air intake is, the very front part of it is held on by a long piece of plastic and the outermost screws where loose also found that part of the middle bit was snapped in 2, so in blue peter fashion I got a piece of wood and slotted it under the air intake part and the rad jobs a good un, will drill fresh holes and secure it when I have more time

So if you have an annoying rattle and cannot find it check your air intake.

Is this the plastic trim which blocks the air getting straight into the engine, right above the rads. It has the air intake screwed into it and it's screwed into the top panel with four black screws.

I'm wondering because mine is loose and rattles when I wiggle it but doesn't rattle in general driving conditions

Yes thats the very trim, if you follow the thick intake hose to the air-box that also rattles as it hits another part of the body underneath it.

After driving all day over the same roads today it was nice and quiet

Cool glad you got it sorted, doesnt look very secure to my, I might run some double sided tape under it along the top of the rad

I stuck a biggish lump of blue tac under the big hose, that stopped it moving
