Witter Detachable Flange Towbar

Featured Replies

Hello

My first post!

Took delivery of a Superb Estate SE 140CR DSG..Fantastic.

Just had a Witter detachable flange towbar fitted over the weekend (Pics attached I hope)

I wanted a "traditional" Towbar so I could fit my stabiliser bracket..but didn't want to spoil the rear of the car ..as I have done on my last 4 cars and always regretted to look of a fixed towbar.

I was quoted £240 for Fixed or £330 for detachable with fold away 13pin electrics (I paid £20 for a 13pin to 2 x 12N & 12S sockets)

Very pleased with the result....walking back to my car I was convinced the hadn't done anything as it was in the same parking spot as I had left it and I couldn't see any sign of the towbar

The parking sensors pick it up but only on the right hand side purely because of the stabiliser bracket..

but you can silence the beeping by pressing the button on the screen

I hope this will be of some help to those thinking of what to go for

Regards

That looks a really good job.

Here's a photo from underneath...the plastic cover is on the right..this just prises off..you might just make out 2 round metal brackets..these are breakaway cable anchor points.

if you go to the witter website there's a video showing this on a Mondeo..but much more metalwork is on show....which I was concerned about..but needn't of worried

hi there back9baz,can you tell me who fitted your bar,i also live near durham, and also have a 140dsg est.i dont need detachable but need fixed ball for maxxraxx cycle rack.cheepest quote was £202 fixed single electrics (make unknown)or £330 witter swan det, that was headleys of durham,i like yourself am concerned how the bar will look, but if it looks like that only not det, then id be more than happy.isnt it ashame about the parking sensors,as for the car,ive only done a 1000 miles, but seems to be loosing up nicely, family love space and refinement,i love mpg 54.6 on run to dumfriesandgalloway, mondeo i had previous never seen 40mpg on same run, miss the sports suspension and very responsive steering but my passengers dont!!cruise on paul.

Hello Paul

I was quoted £350 for the witter detachable flange and £35 fo the 2-1 electric adapter at Hedleys.so saved £35

Got mine from Auto Mobile http://www.automobilenortheast.com/ at Cold Hesledon (the Dalton Park turnoff on the A19)..took 3.5 hrs at their workshop..but they do mobile fitting as well (extra cost depending on where).Your bike rack will probably only need single electrics..which you can have with mine BUT they don't fold away..unlike the 13pin which does. You would just not use one of the 2 7 pin sockets (normally used for caravan fridge, fog & reversing lights)

Like I said they did a great job..would definetly recommend..A lady called Jackie will respond to emails

Like you mine has about 900 on the clock...ain't DSG great !
