tt inlet pipe/ air box

Featured Replies

any one changed to a tt inlet pipe and airbox? i think vrs is a 2.5 inch diameter maf housing and audi tt 225bhp is 3 inch. seems like a nice enough mod if you in to keeping things looking oem.

People usually do it along with a 3" MAF and TIP when upgrading the turbo to a K04 or bigger.

Other than that it's not really worth it on the K03S as you would have to upgrade the MAF to a 3" one or it will act as a bottleneck, and the car will have to be mapped again to use the 3" MAF.

i see cause the air flow passed the maf will be different. bassically a want to upgrade my inlet because ill be going or a stage 2 map soon (hopefully) but want to keep things looking oem, so dont want a induction kit. so what can i do apart from a itg or K&n panel filter??

cheers

Not much really - just uprated panel filter. You could try and replace the cold feed pipe into the airbox with a home-made one which is wider and takes the cold air from by the horn.

thanks mate i was looking into doing something like that but was struggling to find a good place to get fresh air from.

cheers again mate

just run a 3inch cold air feed to standard airbox it works

is down by the horn the best place to have it? what about the chance of sucking up water?

Unless you go through 5 inches of flood you'll be alright! Same could be said of CAI kits where the filter sits behind the bumper. There's nowhere else to put it really, the headlight and radiator are in the way of the other spots where you could put it.

see page 1 of my build thread. i run a cold air feed from the front bumper. it goes to my induction but will work the same into the air box. easy mod :)

I have Pipercross panel filter and more than happy with the difference from standard filter. much smooth less jerky on full throttle from small throttle.

All depends on how healthy your car is and how generous the rolling road is but as a ballpark figure expect something between 220 and 230. It's how it drives and how much you like it that matters anyway not some figures on a bit of paper.

no point changing the inlet to 3" as other said and you do not need to do that for stage 2 tune anyway. You only do that if upgrading turbo to a K04 type variant and also use 3" maf.

Better off increasing air through airbox and add 3" pipping as in this thread i did.( ignore the drill holes in thread)
