Columbus has died!

Featured Replies

Hi All, I picked up by Superb on the 2nd of March and the Columbus system appears to have died already. It won't eject the disk from the CD/DVD drive and seems to have lost comunication with the HDD.

Very impressed with the car though.

Been there, had the problem. Both cars which i have bought with Columbus have both had to be replaced under warranty. A quality issue must obvious by now. Get your dealer to replace it asap.

Being replaced tomorrow.

I think he died in 1506!

There has been many a latter day Columbus has failed since then, especially in the Skoda department.

When my First Columbus gave trouble over 3 years ago there was a big fuss by the dealer and it took weeks to arrive, the replacement did not work out of the box and Mk3 is still functioning perfectly. that was in my Octy L&K which now belongs to my wife. My last superb's unit failed after about a year and another dealer replaced it the next day, so there must now be back -up stock of units awaiting warranty claims.

I am the first to sing the units praises in the design and usability area since I do not need a lot of the more complex functions that some units offer, but I am still concerned at the general reliablity.

I am now on my third Skoda with this unit fitted and I am satisfied with its reliability so far..........The car is only 2 weeks old mind you!!
