Featured Replies

Been offered to try these on my car

My worry is it will need lowering so that's only more to declare to the insurance co. Anyone got an elegance on 18's

Not a fan, sorry.

Don't be sorry mate, I haven't even tried putting them against the car. They are off an S4

Multi-fit, so they wont be genuine.

Rock hard ride, more drag, less MPG and they look ugly IMHO...

However perfect on the Mk3 1.6 Golf driven by a 20 year old

Better left on VW,s and Audi,s.

Think it will spoil the Octy,s look.

I run 18s on mine. Not a problem, but you'll want lower suspension. Of that I'm confident :) - apart from that, it's no different to fitting 18s to any other Octy2 - vRS or otherwise. Just don't fit those particular wheels - for the reasons already stated

Not always the case at all. More drag? Hmmm, would need to see some figures & calcs on that. And I get better MPG with my Turinis fitted, then when I run my OEM 17" Pegasus wheels in the winter, as they're lighter...

The car will be fine on 18's I ran my old one on RS6 replicas for more than 12 months.

However those wheels are not genuine, if thats what you have been told and have never seen an S4 in their lives. They are cheap multifit replicas, genuine ones have only 5 wheel bolts for 5x112 fitment. Just bare that in mind if you buy them, and dont pay more than 400 for all 4 assuming that the tyres are all serviceable and a decent brand. For not a lot more you can get a brand new set.

Picture of a simillar genuine Audi wheel, look at the centre wheel bolt holes.

A mate had them and said I was welcome to try them on the car. He also said they were reps. I was more curious to be honest although I didn't fancy messing with the suspension

Depends what you want to pay - can understand if those wheels were just sitting there, but even then it's not really worth it IMO :)

Tweaked suspension - you know it makes sense  ;)

Rock hard ride as the sidewall is thinner, less cushining.... more drag as they are wider so more rubber in contact with the road .... more drag = more resistance so less MPG....Ill say it again Big wheels are for asthetics and IMHO offer no gains other than show for those that look at your car

Saving for a vrs instead ;)

Rock hard, depends on your relative standpoint I suppose. You have less sidewall, but then there is also the suspension setup to provide dampening. Along with the advantages of more direct steering, better feedback and a more positive turn-in.

More drag; well my 18" setup uses the same tyre width as the OEM 17" setup so....

Aesthetics; well yes, that does have something to do with it. Making the car look as good as it can, I don't see that as a negative. But again - that's always a very personal issue. But as I've said, I get better MPG with a larger, lighter wheel size.
