VRS Remap/extra BHP

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I have just upgraded from a 2004 Fabia VRS to an Octavia VRS Diesel. The Fabia had been remapped to 170bhp which is the same as my octavia now. I feel like the extra weight of the Octavia needs a bit of extra grunt, herein lies my question -

I have been advised not to do a remap on the current Octavia diesel engines by a friend who is a Skoda dealer, can anyone enlighten me as to why this would be? They advised doing some sort of adjustment to the throttle which I haven't had time to investigate yet.

So, if a remap is not something I should be going for, what are other people doing for more ponies under the bonnet?

Your mate is talking nonsense. Loads on here with a remap. Even better, get the DPF removed with remap.

is it legal to remove the dpf? and MOT pass?

Do a search mate - must be THE most talked about topic on this board

In a nutshell - I spend 6 months pondering having the DPF removed, in short its the best thing I've done to the car, complete transformation

As has been said its worth doing a search on the OCty ii section of the forum

DPF is a pain & holds the car back.

Im guessing your friend may be saying a remap might be an issue with the DPF still on the car

currently car still passes a MOT without a DPF but legislation may change in the future

I had my old CR [58 plate] remapped by SPTuning in Leicester and it went well with no problems. Made circa 204bhp and 320lbs if I remember rightly.

Thanks for that guys, has anyone used companies in Scotland? Preferably around Edinburgh or Glasgow.

I see Star performance don't remap the CR170, any other suggestions?
