Delivery times from factory

Featured Replies

Is there anyone here that know how long delivery a superb with 4x4 and DSGhas from factory? anyone that just have bought?

Are we talking from physical order point at dealer to you, or has the car been built and is waiting to come out the factory?

Does vary from market to market - my overall delivery time on my Superb was 7 months, but only 3 weeks from factory to me.

It`s from physical order point at dealer to me.

Seems to be a lot of variables. My 4x4 none DSG (170) is due week 25 build, having ordered about week 9 or 10. It will be 2-3 weeks after that at the dealers.

have ordered a 170cr dsg today ! Will update on prod week on wedensday !

Ok. Thanks. I have ordered alldrive w/dsg and i hope it will be delivered before my vacation.

got confirmation today......production week 21 !

Two weeks build time? No way....??

Unless you just had tha magic fortune of jumping into an abandoned spot, or a car reserved for a dealership exhibition/storage. If so, you probably didn't go for many of the extras, as dealers seldom do?

Good for you, but don't be too disappointed to see the week numbers increase :)

it will be 4 weeks i guess ? Ordered on friday 27 april and got week 21 prod ! I think the are a bit quicker before change over to my 2013 !

Without wishing to pour cold water over your delivery date (honestly I hope your right). Does it show that the dealers screen shows the confirmation order as 20?

Talk to my dealer today and he told me that the car probably will be produced in week 23. I ordred it week 9, so an alldrive with DSG takes about 17 weeks from order to delivery. He also told me that i will get a 2013 model and the price will probably change in my favor :sun:

the screen says production week 21. I hoped to get my 2012 because of a good offer on cars without 4x4 getting reduced price for leather. sun set. Leather. Park assistance. Columbus and heater ! This offer is not on my 2013 ! But must see the new price list to be sure i made a good deal : ) this is for norwegian marked

Even though the screen says production week 21 the important part is the box in the top left that should show 20 if it shows 10 then that is not an actual build date it is what they think it might be.

Best of luck.

If the dealer is saying then it should be at "20".

The more I read about this...and in view of my experience today,,,,the more I think Skoda are exploiting the long lead time concept to their own advantage.

I have asked Skoda UK about DAB radio 3 times since January 2011, it is an important issue to me, if to no one else.

Ever since i started looking at the Skoda Superb as probably my first preferred next car I've seen virtually noting other that 3 month lead times (and sometimes very much longer depending on the spec) and in addition to the miraculous examples quoted above...I finally got fed up waiting for DAB radio in UK Skodas and went into Bickerton Skoda in Sheffield today and started an order for an Elegance Greenline II Hatch with ;

Wood Decor interior trim

Park Assist

Hill Hold Control

Mobile Device Interface (MDI)

Auto Dimming Rear Mirror

Sunset Glass from 'B' Pillar Back

Heated Front and Rear Seats, separately controlled

Tow Bar Preparation

Not a spec you might expect to see lying around in too many dealers' back yards.

I made my usual inquiries about DAB radio and any other details of changes for the MY 13 spec. Screen says - not a feature!

I had been told yesterday by another local dealer that they too had been informed of the MY 13 specs although that dealer offered no information of the subject although as an aside that dealer said that the first car in the UK to have DAB in the UK would be the Citigo, although the current download brochure for that doesn't mention DAB anywhere.

This afternoon I received a call from Skoda UK Customer Service in response to yesterday's email to say that DAB wasn't in the MY13 spec and they didn't have a date when it would be but it my gut feeling was that they knew exactly when it was going to be activated. But I've been wrong before, so I'm told.

Knowing (?) that the lead times for these cars is 3 months or more I felt confident on starting to place an order on the 3rd of May knowing that the car would not be built until well into the MY13 year so ensuring that I would have the benefit of any enhancements / tweeks to the spec. Initial discussions substantiated my beliief - trade in based on time 3 months hence and so on.

However, when the paperwork had been produced and some initial checks made re likely arrival time I was told the system said the car might be here in June! Another Skoda miracle!

Despite the fact that my salesman, who is actually one of the most helpful, genuine people I've met in the trade (Tony Braithwaite) has not yet put the order into the system pending his own checks into to the build date I feel that in the circumstances I have no option but to suspend, or if necessary, cancel the order until all of thses issues have been cleared up.

Purchases like this (still £20,000 plus after the promo discounts and a further welcome gesture from Bickerton Skoda enough to keep me out of the hands of the brokers) are a pretty big deal to me. I'm not pleading poverty but I am nevertheless retired and of not unlimited means. My long days and years of driving company cars are behind me.

I wish I knew what was going on.

This is not from SUK but just from doing my own bit of homework as I get the questions about DAB everyday.

This is by no means gospel but may help a little: From what has been mentioned in the press, internet etc, the likely switchover to digital is due to take place in 2015. With this in mind ALL cars will have DAB by the end of 2014, you will find that within 2013 (probably MY14) the DAB will be introduced, probably to the higher marques (e.g Superb) with the rest of the range following.

However, depending on other manufacturers DAB could be introduced slightly earlier.

As mentioned this is slight speculation, but I hope it helps.

Personally I don't think the switchover will start before 2018. 2015 is only a couple of years away and the majority of cars, and indeed homes, don't have DAB.

Lee at Preston Motors - thanks for your input re DAB. If I buy this car and then find that after chasing them on the subject unsuccessfully for over a year they then start fitting DAB within a few months and my unit is incapable of being activated or cheaply mofified I'm going to be a very unhappy customer.

I am of the view that in dealing with customers / potential customers a firm should be open and fair about options. If they said 'you can have this car with the MY12 spec at the promo price (which in any event runs to the end of June (subject to availability) or here is the MY13 spec and you can choose to wait for that for £x additional'. At least then the customer is in the position of being able to make an informed choice and Skoda seem to go out of their way to make that impossible and without regard to the impact it might have on customers.

Getting back to the subject of this thread - manufacturing lead times - what is the current minimum lead time for a factory build?

How is it that whilst maintaining that virtually nothing will get through within 3 months they can suddenly produce cars within a much shorter timespan? Or can they?

Have they managed to stockpile loads of MY12 cars?

And in event what changes will there be on MY13?

Just reminding myself that just because I'm paranoid it doesn't mean they're not out to get me!

Jim

Jim, I have checked through the model year changes and there is nothing significant.

Variable boot floor handle will be slightly different, there will be a boot lock time delay (so you don't lock your keys inside the boot), the Columbus unit will feature the new logo and will have a different looking compass.

There is not even a mentioned of DAB so I would say that it won't be introduced this year.

With regards to a price change between MY12 and MY13 there is no price increase between the 2 - if you have the latest brochure April 2012 those are the prices.

Lead times are a bit hit and miss, I have mentioned before about quota but can't link it in at the mo. Maybe someone with a bit more knowledge can help me on this - read it through and the you will have a better idea.

As for stock piling cars, depending on whether you are looking for diesel or petrol you would find that there are more diesel models available (generally higher spec SE upwards) and delivery on those would generally be around 3 weeks depending on location of the car itself (UK port, Emden or factory).

Lee

Thanks again Lee.

My sales guy up here is away for a few days and he hasn't yet processed the order so I've emailed him to ensure it is held long enough to ensure week 22 build or beyond.

I know showroom revamps are in progress now so can only hope that the new logo on the Columbus unit matches the one on the front.

Thanks again.

Lee - it was words to the effect of:

We also have to work by quota. The way this works is every dealer is given build quotas for each model at the start of the year. E.g Factory can build 2 Superbs (depending on engine/gearbox) in, say, November, December they can build 1 but in January they can't build that particular dealership any, thus having a knock on effect in to February, once again if there is no quota then that model will get put back again.

Just a note Jim, whether the order was put in now or in 2 weeks time it would be a MY13. Have a look at the post from Coops (thanks again), this will hopefully enlighten you on the build weeks etc.

Your order could take a few weeks or so to actually get assigned to the system anyway.
