Mods done so far:

- Lowred 35/35 mm on lowtech springs

- Golf GTI TDI MK4 drivers front seat

- Boost gauge (working), and voltmeter (working) installed

- Alpine headunit, Rainbow speakers , and a 6-channel ESX signum amplifier in the back

Now that is done... to the question:

As you can see from the pictures the car has +400.000km on the road, but is still going strong. Some parts of it are never the less getting pretty worn. Because cars are pretty expensive here in Denmark i would like to upgrade the interior and exterior of this old lady by buying this as a donor car:

And strip it of bumbers, hood, front wings, lights, bumbers, interior... Well everything i can except from engine and chassis.

I know it will be a big project, but can this be done, Transforming a pre-facelift to a facelift?

Thank you for your time, and sorry for the photo bomb in the beginnig

Christian

that is some decent miles, 275K give or take converted back to proper numbers ;-)

I would imagine if you carry out some searches on here everything you hope to do has been done by someone.

So finding help/guides shouldnt a problem.

Has the donor vehicle got no engine that you intend using it on the older car?

good luck with the project, Keep us posted on progress!!

The donor car has indeed a working engine but it is a 1.8T so can't use it in mine without failing MOT. The best would be to find a L&K with a 1.9 tdi in it, but at the moment it dosent matter that much since the engine in mine was replaced after 400K (KM) or 245K in prober numbers ;-) so the engine in mine has only done 43K give or take.

The thing i need to know is if everything will fit, from FL to pre -FL, including swapping over the xenon lights from the L&K model. There is a guy in here called "KEnONeil" who seems to know a lot about fitting FL parts on pre-FL but whenever I search for him and related topics I can't seem to find anyone with hands on experience on fitting the parts (or pictures of it). Maby I'm just lokking in the wrong "direction"

They should all just bolt on without any problems.

Sounds nice. Is the only thing they changed from pre-fl to fl the shape of the front (front wings, hood, lights, bumber) and the shape of the rear bumber, not any of the mounting points, or other "major" changes?

So just an aesthetic facelift rather than constructive. If that makes sense :)

The rear lights were different on pre-facelift estates (and hatches) as well. I've got a feeling side repeaters were orange before the facelift and clear/smoked after.

Alloy wheel options were different too.

And where it would have an SLi/LXi/GLX badge etc before the Facelift it would be a Classic/Ambient/Elegance after the facelift

Apart from that and the front lights, bumper and bonnet there's not much else to change.

Sounds like its just to get going then :) Think i will just call the local MOT center and check with them, if there should be any problems passing MOT with the "upgrade"

Thansk for your help
