Single or Double DIN?

Featured Replies

Hey Everyone!

I would like some opinions on what Head Unit to get..

I'm still undecided on whether I should keep the space beneath and have a single din, or go for the full double din with touch screen?!

I would like bluetooth compatibility with my parrot device if possible.

I'm thinking about the JVC KW-AV60BT - http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-jvc-kw-av60bt_p-27470.htm

Not really sure on any others :/

My budget is up to £300..

Help :)

The problem I found with double din headunits is that I wanted one that had a removable face, all the ones I found with that either looked a bit cheap or were mega bucks. A good site for audio stuff worth checking out is caraudiosecurity.com normally have some decent bits at good prices. I`v punted for a OEM MFD Satnav setup, looks (is) factory so no one looks twice at it and it does all I need it to.

It depends what you will be using it for, if its only for music and hands free i'd go single din, but if you want dvd playback or sat nav go double

Hmmm, yeah I've been trying to find one which has a removable face too but its proving difficult without paying £300+

My original idea was trying to get a Zenec MC5600 for its OEM look and functionality but its £600+, and doesn't fit into my mk1 fabia :S

What is the sound quality like for the OEM MFD satnav?

Yeah that's what I've been thinking.. I would like to have full bluetooth functionality for iPhone so it would be able to do hands free phone calls, preferably with built-in microphone, or with possible Parrot installation.. as well as full bluetooth audio connection for my iPhone. I prefer the look and idea of having a double din as they tend to look more OEM in comparison to the designs of the single din stereos.

My cousin has a pioneer single din in his Golf GTi which works really well but it wouldn't suit the interior of my fabia because of the vibrant design :/

That JVC unit mentioned in the above post is detachable lads. Looks like a decent bit of kit for the money aswell!

One question I have, think it was mentioned above also, is what is the OEM MFD unit? Price? Quality?

Here's a pic of one from google, not taken a photo of mine

The sound quality is way better than the standard head unit I had fitted, The satnav system is very basic but does the job.

You can find these on ebay from £150, but finding a skoda unit with the green LEDs in a bit tricky
