hi i have a 03 octavia vrs strange start up noise when car being stood for a while

sounds like cardboard in spokes on a bike , the clicking noise wll thern go when engine gets warm.

Hi, I had the same with my Scooby. I'm afraid it could be your big end brgs. I had to buy new short block engine as it actually work out cheaper than stripping down the engine, trying to get rid of all the metal fillings & then replace the damaged parts.

Has the oil level ever been low? If not your pick up tube might be blocked.

Hi. I have an Octavia II 1.6 tdi circa 33k miles. Was very quiet ar around 60mph/2000 rpm. Now has what sounds like a harmonic noise from some bearing noise.

Anyone got any ideas
