Which 2 litre petrol engine is it?

Featured Replies

Hi,

The 2 litre petrol turbo in the Superb is rated at 197ps and referred to as a 'tfsi' unit. I'm guessing then that it would be the same unit as was fitted to my old 2007 octavia vrs tfsi and not the current 2 litre tsi unit fitted to the current face lifted octavia vrs?!

Also, am I right in thinking that for the uk Market, the two litre tfsi has four exhaust exits as per the 3.6?

Thanks in advance. :-)

the tfsi is the current rs engine. Yes it has the same pipes as 3,6 at least in norway !

Thanks, but if thats the case then why do skoda quote the engine details as the same as the old unit and not th newer one ie 200ps/197bhp?

For what it is worth I have just checked in the broucher (Nov 2011) and the 2.0 TFSI engine is rated at 200 PS @ 5100-600rpm and 280Nm @ 1700-5000rpm. Only a slight difference I accept.

....so it isn't the newer 211ps unit as fitted to the current octavia/golf etc?

...so Im guessing that no one can confirm this either way but the suspition is that it still uses the pre FL Octavia engine (which seems weird given the start date for its production in the Superb!)?

I thought the pre-facelift Octavia vRS had an EA113 engine. The Superb has an EA888 (CCZA, I think - but I can check when I get home). So it is a version of the current 211PS engine you mention.

If you could check that would be appreciated. Its just that Skoda seem to suggest its the older one in its literature as they quote output equal to the old VRS 200ps unit.

The output is the same as the old 2.0TFSI unit but the engine in the 2.0T Superb is the new EA888 2.0TSI as we know it, but much of the literature still says TFSI.

As shark_90 says, the outputs are identical to the older engine. The only difference I can remember seeing in the brochure that allowed me to identify it as an EA888 rather than the EA113 was the different compression ratio (9.6:1 vs. 10.5:1).

I'll check the exact variant later and let you know. I'm guessing the engine type is detailed on the configuration sticker in the boot.

Interesting and weird!

Cheers for the info guys. :)

Just to confirm: I've checked my car and, as I thought, the engine is the CCZA variant of the EA888.  If my memory was better I would have remembered updating the Wikipedia entry to that effect when I got the car :-S

Thanks Mark - it still seems a weird way of doing it to me. Give it the new engine but pull back the figures to equal the old TFSi VRS units or is it more a case of just the Skoda references to the output levels simply being incorrect I wonder?

The TSI VRS is also rated at 200PS not the 211PS as per Golf Mk6 GTI et al.
