Coil Spring - Free length and codes

Featured Replies

Does anyone have the front coil spring details for an 06 2.0tdi. I'm looking for free length, diameter and and colour codings?

Regards

Hi

cannot help you directly, but just in case it helps I have recently had a front spring failure and ordered a pair of Bilstein standard OEM spec front springs from Germany at a price of just £35 each - for comparative purposes, ECP quoted around £90 each for some brand I've never heard of.

The part number you need is 37-131388. If you select Shopping option within Google browser and type the number in you will get a link to 123spares.co.uk, I used the same website, shipped directly from Germany.

Thanks for the info

Mine just failed the mot on a cracked spring. I just replaced with the cheapest I could find which was £41 for the pair from a Leicester autoparts place with free delivery. I just want to replace with something similar. Pointless spending more......the original only lasted 43k miles! So much for original parts quality!!

Make sure you orientate them correctly, otherwise service life could be affected. What I mean by orientation is the angle at which the end of the spring sits at with respect to the car main axis. I marked my top mount plate to line-up with the top mount rubber disc insert, which in turn has a fixed location for spring end... this then effectively locks the spring in the correct place. But if it's already been disturbed previously then this is not an option, but there are other ways of ensuring correct fitting.
