Also its the discs off these

VW GOLF MK4 256MM REAR BRAKE UPGRADE AXLE WITH CALIPERS & CARRIERS & DISCS

Pardon me if I'm being condescending, but when you say "it's the discs off these", you don't mean you're JUST using the discs are you? There's a reason why these things are sold as a set, you need the calipers and carriers from a 256mm setup to use the 256mm discs...

if you want help, you need to explain what you've changed. Use lots of words & build a picture in the reader's mind of what you've done?

You will need...

The discs, the carriers and the calipers. Also, kit off a 4x4, 4motion, R32 etc won't fit either.

Sorry about being so vague

I have the carriers calipers backing plates and discs and pads from tht eBay listing I took of the old brakes and removed hub an backing plates

Cut up the new backing plates so the holes matched up.

With backing plates on and hub back on I fitted the discs all good.

When the carriers went on they caught on the disc with the edge nearest the outside of car and the edge towards the rear bumper.

Why don't they fit I was lead to believe these were off a FWD car

And has and one else had this problem how can it be fixed??

The answer may be in your question. If they're not from a FWD car someone up there ^^^^^^^ said 4WD won't fit.

If it's from that listing, they're from a FWD car (hence the full beam being sold, if it was 4WD then there wouldn't be a torsion beam).

It is from the eBay listing so why won't they fit on???

Not being funny mate but how can it be the stuff from this listing? Its still for sale!....

I contacted the seller and they said they would split it and send it me

They seem to come of a 4WD car so that's why they don't fit because they didn't send me the ones I asked for

Yeah, I questioned it being that exact listing too. Sounds to me that they haven't split it (they said they wouldn't for me, I asked about the same item from the same seller a couple of months ago) but have instead just grabbed another pair of rear calipers which may have come from a 4WD car.

It must be off a 4wd car- I've checked on vagcat & it should fit! I even had Mk 4 golf callipers on a 1994 B4 vr6 passat & the callipers fitted no probs.
