Hi, I've just bought a '58-reg Octavia 2.0 TDi CR 170 vRS (Racing Blue) today. Very impressed so far, as were my passengers! It's going to take a while to figure out all the tricks the car does, e.g. I couldn't unlock the passenger door with the remote 'til I realised you need to plip it twice. Ahem. Looks like I'll have to read the manual.

About me? My main interest is my bike, a BMW R1150GS, which I bought new 9 years ago, and no plans to part with it. But I need a car every day. I was looking for an Audi but a test drive of the vRS made me realise how much further my budget could go I've got no plans for the car other than to drive and enjoy it, not least because I'm now skint! But I'll be keeping it for 3-5 years, hopefully, so maybe an ICE upgrade or a chip from DTUK or similar may be on my xmas prezzie list.

I'm looking forward to learning more about these great cars, and hopefully contributing when I can help.

Lovely car, think you need someone with vagcom to enable all doors unlocking with one blip on keyfob.

Always had a soft spot for the big GS, very capable despite its size.

There's been about 5 new people from the north east in the past few weeks.

The double plip is a pain the ar5e. I've just modded mine to the single click unlock all.

If you want it changing ask your dealer for a freebie or consult the vcds map for a nearby forum user who will do it for beer money!

I'll not worry about the one or two plip for the key bob, as most of the time, I just need my door open. i was worried the central locking had broken - my last car had a number of faults, this was one of them - I thought it was deja vu on the very first day!

The GS is better than me at everything, so no reason to change. I'm 6'1" so I like a big, roomy bike. I've done 54,000 miles on her but a few guys on a Facebook forum have >100K, so I need to try harder. She did aquit herself very well with a Ferrari 360 today, though the F430 ran away from us both.
